CRB Checks

Our policy on Enhanced CRB Checks:

As agencies who supply nannies do not directly employ the nanny they are not able to insist upon a CRB check. However at The Nanny Service we encourage all potential applicants to have a valid CRB. From candidates who are not from the UK we request a valid police check from their country of origin. If a candidate does not have an up to date CRB or is in the process or are obtaining one, the agency will inform client of the CRB status of the nanny they are employing. However, we are happy to apply for a CRB for any nanny currently on our books upon request.

Vetting and Barring Scheme: protecting children and vulnerable adults

The new government has announced its aim to review the criminal records and vetting and barring schemes. The Vetting and Barring Scheme, which was due to start on 26 July 2010, has been halted to allow the government to remodel the scheme to what it calls 'common-sense levels'. However, the regulations that were introduced in October 2009 will continue to apply. Up to date information is also available to businesses, other organisations and individuals on www.direct.gov.uk/vetting
