Introduction
Nanny posts are available to those with nursing/teaching/nanny training, or those with considerable childcare experience. Nannies can expect to have shared-care or complete sole-charge of the children.
Nannies are expected to undertake responsibility for the total care of infants and children and their duties include:
- Dressing and bathing
- Meal and bottle preparation
- Supervising their play activities
- Childrens washing and ironing
- Cleaning children's areas within the house i.e. bedrooms/playrooms/bathrooms
- Ensuring the child's wellbeing
- Keeping the children stimulated and constructively occupied during waking hours
Time off for standard salaried jobs is a minimum of 2 days a week, nearly always at weekends. Evenings are generally free although residential nannies should expect to baby-sit on average two night's midweek.
Live Out Nannies are the most common choice for childcare in your own home although it is the most expensive option. However the cost reflects the quality of the childcare, as daily nannies tend to be older and consequently have more experience.
Salaries are approx. £300 - £400 npw according to age and experience. This is based on the nanny working Mon-Fri and 10hrs per day.
Live In Nannies are an alternative option who provide a more flexible option for families who require early starts or late finishes. Salaries are typically less as they reflect that they live in your home.
The salary range is approx. £200 - £300 npw according to age and experience. This is based on the nanny working Mon-Fri and a maximum of 11 1/2hrs per day.
Salaries are totally dependent on a nanny's' age and experience and The Nanny Service will advise on the realistic remuneration obtainable by each individual applicant.
